Understanding Shakespeare

Understanding Shakespeare are online zoom classes focusing on specific plays to aid with GCSE revision. There are 4 x 1 hour sessions held in the school holidays.

This course enables students to gain an in-depth understanding of the context of for example Macbeth by making easy-to-understand style of writing, breaking down scenes, finding the subtext, distinguishing the importance or relevance of certain characters and using role-play to aid this. The hardest part for anyone is to bring the literature to modern style and that is something we will do but without losing the originality. Students don't dislike or struggle with Shakespeare's plays because they are boring or feel like a different language but because they are not torn down and made to be accessible to the teenagers mind and this is where this course enables that. The course is set up so be enjoyable and invigorating.
